Knowledge Platform
Internal Web Application
*specific wording has been redacted for confidentiality
This Internal Knowledge Platform was conceived as the next evolution of the current site, aiming to create a connected knowledge ecosystem for Kroger Technology & Digital (KTD).
The goal was to provide associates and contractors with a centralized, intuitive, and engaging hub for standards, tools, best practices, and learning paths.
Problem Space
The existing site lacked personalization and ease of navigation. Users often struggled to find tailored content, leading to disengagement and inefficiency.
Feedback highlighted associates felt their role content was frequently missing from key sections, creating frustration and reducing adoption.
Objectives
-
Our mighty design team of two conducted:
Stakeholder Interviews to understand pain points.
Persona Development to represent diverse user needs.
Card Sorting Exercises to define information architecture.
Competitive Analysis to benchmark against industry best practices.
Prototype Usability Testing with KTD associates to validate design decisions.
-
Information Architecture (IA): We evaluated content on two previous knowledge sites in order to combine these spaces into the new site. Next, our team spent time to structure content into clear categories before presenting the IA to stakeholders and leaders for feedback before finalizing for launch.
Experience Design focused on:Quick access to essential resources.
Seamless navigation across the Knowledge Platform.
Consistent visual language aligned with Kroger branding.
Reusable components.
-
Migrated content from Site 1 and Site 2 into a unified platform.
Collaborated with Knowledge Owners across internal tools to eliminate redundancies.
Conducted iterative testing and incorporated feedback from soft launch communications.
-
Searchable Resource Hub: Centralized access to standards, tools, and shared services.
Role-Based Learning Paths: Personalized journeys for onboarding and career development.
Community Integration: Blogs, events calendar, and collaboration spaces.
